Healing After Loss: Introducing a Space Designed for Miscarriage Support
Healing After Loss is Carea’s new miscarriage support mode, created to provide gentle, non-triggering emotional support after pregnancy loss.
Brooke Thomas
Miscarriage is one of the most common pregnancy outcomes, yet it remains one of the least supported and least openly discussed experiences in maternal healthcare.
At Carea, we created Healing After Loss Mode to change that - offering miscarriage support that is gentle, accessible, and grounded in real experience of pregnancy loss and grief.
This is a space designed for emotional recovery after pregnancy loss at any stage - because grief does not follow a timeline, and neither does healing.
Miscarriage is more common than we realise
In the UK, it is estimated that 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage. Many occur before 12 weeks, often before people even have the chance to tell others they are pregnant.
Despite how common pregnancy loss is, many women describe feeling isolated, unprepared, or unsure of where to turn afterwards. The emotional impact of miscarriage is often underestimated, even though it can be profound and long-lasting.
Miscarriage support should not begin and end with medical discharge. It should continue through grief, recovery, and the quiet in-between moments that follow.
Why we built our Healing After Loss Mode
Pregnancy is often spoken about in milestones - scan dates, weekly updates, fruit comparisons, and countdowns.
But pregnancy is not linear.
Some of our team have personally experienced pregnancy loss and later pregnancy after loss. We understand how it feels to experience a loss and then in the midst of grief receive a notification like “your baby is now the size of a blueberry” from the pregnancy app you hadn’t yet deleted. In our experience, pregnancy apps don’t account for loss even though it is a part of many women’s fertility journey.
It is one of the reasons we built Healing After Loss Mode - to create a space that does not assume pregnancy always continues, and does not add pressure, comparison, or emotional overwhelm after loss.
This is a miscarriage support space designed with sensitivity, not stimulation.
A non-triggering space for grief and recovery
Our Healing After Loss Mode was built carefully to avoid triggering content and to support emotional safety.
Instead of pregnancy milestones or pressure to “move on,” it focuses on gentle support for where you are right now.
This includes:
- 💚 A safe journaling space to process thoughts, grief, and emotions privately
- 💚 Expert-written articles you can read or listen to, covering miscarriage grief, emotional recovery, and what to expect physically and emotionally
- 💚 Meditations and affirmations designed to calm anxiety, reduce overwhelm, and support emotional grounding
- 💚 A community space where you can connect with others who understand pregnancy loss and miscarriage grief
- 💚 A gentle, non-triggering design, created to avoid overwhelming reminders or insensitive pregnancy progression content
This is miscarriage support designed to meet women where they are - not where they are expected to be.

Built through experience and understanding
Healing After Loss Mode was not created in isolation.
It was shaped by real conversations, lived experiences of pregnancy loss, and an understanding that miscarriage is not just a medical event - it is a deeply emotional one.
We understand that grief after miscarriage can feel different for everyone. For some, it is immediate and intense. For others, it arrives slowly, or in waves. For many, it is complicated by fear in future pregnancies, or anxiety when trying to conceive again.
That is why this space is not prescriptive. It does not tell you how to grieve. It simply supports you while you do.
Miscarriage support that acknowledges the emotional reality
Too often, miscarriage care focuses only on the physical side of pregnancy loss.
But emotional recovery matters just as much.
Feelings of sadness, shock, numbness, guilt, anxiety, or even anger are all valid responses to pregnancy loss. There is no “right way” to feel after miscarriage.
Our Healing After Loss Mode is designed to acknowledge that truth, and to offer support that adapts to your experience rather than defining it.
A space that sits alongside you, not ahead of you
Our Healing After Loss Mode is not about moving on quickly.
It is about creating space for miscarriage grief, emotional processing, and gentle recovery - in your own time.
Whether your loss was recent or something you are still carrying quietly, this is a space designed to support you without pressure.
Because pregnancy loss is not rare. And you should not have to go through it alone.
